Utah Valley Storytellers

  • Bill Boardman is a giving Storyteller. He has a zest for the stories he tells and can wow even a Jr. High School crowd with his historical tales.
  • Cherie Davis has stories from history. My favorite story of hers always makes me cry, because I am a mother. It is called, The Stripling Warriors.
  • Kelly Gagalis-Hoffman is a fireball of energy. The first story I ever heard her tell was Three Billy Goats Gruff. My then 4 year old son was enthralled. It was an energy packed version that never dragged. If you want a unique version of Rapunzel that is entertaining, Kelly has one too. She has a CD out as well.
  • Karla Huntsmanis a true performer. She loves to like to add singing, autoharp, guitar, washboard, and harmonica to her stories. My favorite story of hers I can the Man Drum story. My kids love to hear that story over and over again and again.
  • Wendy Gourley uses music and rhythmn to help tell her stories. She says that she always wanted to be a percussionist. Her stories include swamp stories as well as a well crafted piece on adoption and another one about the Greek Myths. Her African games and songs add interest to any concert.
  • April Johnson has a great story from her family history that applauds pioneer women. Using poetry and imagery, you enter the life of her ancestor and face the Indians with her. She also does dragon stories and more recent family stories.
  • Ginger Parkinson does a superb job of defining her character voices and actions. Each character in her stories has, well, character. You don't want to miss hearing her Gordon story. It is a great match for any venue that is looking for a story centered in a zoo.
  • Steffani Raff has a wonderful sense of humor. Her stories range from ones just for the small folk to stories about the stuff life is made of. A story that will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye is about the Christmas Pageant and her oldest son.
  • Debi Richan is the most seasoned of the storytellers in Utah Valley that I have heard. I first heard her as she told stories about World War II. She also has stories that entertains kids for hours.
  • Rene' Sheets is most famous for her Goat Herder tale. Using her yodeling skills, she puts her audience in the mountains of Switzerland.
  • Nannette Watts is a well polished performer. From folklore to personal tales of climbing a tree, to a rap version of the Three Little Pigs she has a wide range of tales.
